2012 Election and Beyond, Got Bush?

12/3/08

Now that the sun is setting on W's whitehouse, the seeds are starting to be planted for the 2012 election and for the next generation of Bush's.

Here is Zogby's latest poll on the 2012 election.

Here is how each ranked with only Republicans and with all voters.

Palin's strength is with all conservatives, conservative religious voters and gun owners. Among Republicans, she gets the support of 30% of Born-Again Christians, 32% of weekly churchgoers, 34% of National Rifle Association members, 28% of current gun owners and 29% of self-identified conservatives.

Romney's Republican support level is very consistent across demographic groups.

There are no highs or lows among subgroups for Jindal among Republicans. He is a newcomer to national politics, and already has a reasonable base of GOP support.

Jeb Bush, former Governor of Florida, is considering a run for the US Senate. He was an extremely popular governor so it is likely that he can win this vacated senate seat if Mel Martinez does resign in 2010. (source)

Jeb Bush would have been one of the favorites to run for president in 2008 had he chosen to. Gallup Poll ran a poll soon after Bush's 2004 re-election and Jeb garnered 17% support behind Giuliani 47% and McCain 27%. That is of course a horrible sign for a brother of a recently elected president to only get 17%. Soon thereafter, Jeb's numbers started to dwindle down to the low 10s.

Bush's failed presidency has ruined Jeb's chances of ever being president but how about his eldest son, George Prescott Bush? Well, he's getting more play in the media now. He was recently on Geraldo Rivera's FOX News show. Here's a YouTube clip of him saying that he is not considering running for office in the near future.

Prescott's highly touted qualities for being President is the fact that he's young and he's Hispanic. And he's good in business.

As the Obama administration begins and the economy tanks, the Republican party is going to start planting seeds for their future. You've got Palin, Jindal, Crist, and this Prescott guy. The race for the 2010 mid-term elections has begun.
