Zogby: McCain In the Game But Not Moving10/16/08 Rasmussen Tracking: Obama 50, McCain 46. AVERAGE: Obama 49, McCain 44 (Obama +5%). The tracking polls average has McCain down just 5%. The average deficit for McCain has been in the 5-8% range for about three weeks now. McCain has tried a variety of tactics to narrow that deficit but all to no avail as he has been unable to get any closer. The race does, however, come down to the states and that is where McCain's deficit looms even larger. McCain is behind in most of the key battleground states.
