Americans Divided Over Israeli Attacks On Gaza Strip12/31/08 Tags: National Security, Foreign Relations From Rasmussen Reports
» Commentary by Kris Lazaro (registered Democrat) In a recent telephone poll conducted by Rasmussen Reports, Americans are divided regarding the recent attacks on the Gaza Strip by the Israeli government. Forty-four percent agree with the military action, while forty-one percent disagree. While the US government is a solid supporter of Israel, this recent barrage of attacks may prompt the new adminstration to shift its stand on the subject. Many thought there should have been a diplomatic approach to the situation. To this author, this subject has been quite contentious. While the Israeli government has a right to protect itself from military advances, it does not have a right to blatantly target 'soft' targets and the like. It seems like Israel is using a free pass to bomb the Palestines and to that end, this military action is uncalled for. President-elect Obama needs to stifle further military action in the region and establish himself as a diplomat. Check Gmail, Facebook, and IM simultaneously with Digsby.
