Majority Want The 90 Percent Tax On AIG Post Bailout Bonuses3/23/09 Tags: Economy From Rasmussen Reports (conducted: 3/20-21/09)
» Commentary by Kris Lazaro (registered Democrat) Americans are mad about the current financial scandal involving the federal bailout money that corporate giant AIG received. AIG apparently used some of its latest bailout money to give bonuses to its executives, and upon hearing this, the government is now planning to tax AIG and other companies who use this money as 'bonuses' at a very high rate of 90%. According to a new Rasmussen poll, many Americans approve of such a measure. A great majority, likewise, wanted Congress and the President to have acted before AIG received its bailout money (there was a loophole in the contract that allowed this bonus-giving to happen). Government is not perfect and should be able to correct its oversights. Unlike the previous administration, this current one has realized its faults and is now trying to correct it. The 90% tax is a great idea to recoup the money given to these greedy corporations. Check Gmail, Facebook, and IM simultaneously with Digsby.
