From CBS News, New York Times (conducted: 2/18-22/09)

  • 49% have a favorable rating of the first lady
  • 31% can't make an opinion because they have not heard much of Mrs. Obama
  • 5% have an unfavorable rating of Michelle Obama

» Commentary by Kris Lazaro (registered Democrat)

In a recent CBS News/New York Times Poll, those asked whether they like the first lady or not gave interesting results.

It appears that although 49% had a favorable rating of the first lady, a big chunk of those polled felt they have not heard enough of Mrs. Obama to form a valid opinion.

First ladies in the past often keep a low key profile, and perhaps this is also the case here as Mrs. Obama goes through the first 100 days of her husband's presidency.

This author would like to see more of Mrs. Obama and her influence on this nation.
