Obama Enjoying a Honeymoon with Voters12/6/08 Tags: Obama, National Security From CNN Opinion Research Corporation Poll
» Commentary by Kris Lazaro (registered Democrat) It surprises me that no matter what Bush says or does, it is met with disdain. Only 49% of voters approved of Bush's reaction to the terrorist attacks in India versus a 64% approval for Obama. Obama is enjoying a honeymoon of sorts. That is good. A president should be liked. A president should be looked upon with a hopeful spirit. Bush had that after 9/11. He ruined it. I guess Obama's job is to not ruin his great image by working hard for the American people. If he can hold true to his promises of a more transparent government, people will see his hard work and praise him for it. Most Americans will be closely following the economy but because the employment market continues to get worse right now, voters will connect our economic woes to Bush. In fact, for the next four years, Obama will remind us that this is all Bush's fault whether or not he deepens the recession with his policies or not. If the Democrats are going to continue to support bonehead policies like bailouts then the American economy will be in for a hit. They may be able to stave off something catastrophic now but it will do nothing but deepen the woes we face. Check Gmail, Facebook, and IM simultaneously with Digsby.
