Political Landscapes Changes With Senator Specter's Affiliation Switch

As news of the political switch Pennsylvania's senator Arlen Specter spreads, Americans are wondering whether or not his reversal of party affilitation will affect laws that are passed by the Senate. In a recent Rasmussen telephone survey of likely voters it found that 42% believe there will be significant changes in the ways laws are passed. On the flipside, 25% say there will not be much change.

What makes this interesting is that the Democrats may have full control of the Senate, in other words attaining 60 out of the 100 seats of the Senate in terms of caucus seating. This is a major milestone since having 60 senators ensures a 'filibuster-proof' Senate--one that can pass laws without much friction.

What this also entails is the demise of the Republican party. People across America are realizing that the Republican party has changed and it has lost its fundamental purpose. Republicans now are very exclusive, not inclusive.

We might be seeing the start of the end of the Republican Party.
