» Commentary by Kris Lazaro (registered Democrat)

Democratic presidential administrations tend to increase taxes, and while many view this as a negative, this author contends that it is necessary to provide for the national good. Social programs such as welfare, medicare, and the like need the necessary funding for them to become effective. During the last eight years, though, the emphasis has not been on the forlorn, but for those at the top of the economic ladder.

Obama will bring in a fresh of breath air and change what president Bush has done in the last few years. Obama's proposal of giving a tax break to the middle class and increasing taxes on the super rich will help this economy in the long run. Those living a very comfortable lifestyle due to their high incomes will feel a little pinch due to higher taxes, but in the long run, everyone will benefit from a stronger economy.

Empower the American middle class and one empowers the country.
